Grenada citizenship requirements for US and Canadian applicants
For US and Canadian citizens
The nationality restrictions rarely affect you, and your police certificate is an FBI or RCMP check we order in days. The substantive work is the financial evidence: the Investment Migration Agency expects to see your source of wealth across your career, so tax returns and business accounts form the core of the file. Note that a Grenadian bank account opened for the investment is reported to the IRS under FATCA if you are American; it changes nothing about your tax, but it is not private.
For US and Canada residents on another passport
Two questions determine the viability of your file before anything else. First, is your nationality restricted, and if so have you lived outside that country for ten or more years? Second, can you obtain a police certificate from your home country and every place you have lived in the last decade, including where you studied? We have obtained certificates from Nigeria, India, Pakistan and Vietnam many times; it takes longer than the IMA's other requirements, so we start there. Indian nationals should also know India does not permit dual citizenship.
Grenada CBI nationality restrictions and common grounds for refusal
Grenada restricts or excludes nationals of Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, Sudan and Yemen, with limited exceptions for people who have lived outside those countries for ten-plus years and can show their funds were not earned there. Since ECCIRA's shared regional database went live in December 2025, a refusal by any of the five Caribbean units is visible to the others, so a weak file cannot simply be re-filed in Dominica or St Lucia. That is why we advise against filing at the consultation stage rather than file and forfeit your fees.
The refusals we see most often, in order: an undisclosed visa refusal from the UK, Schengen, the US or Canada that the due diligence agents find anyway; a source-of-funds explanation that stops at the bank balance and cannot explain how the money was earned; a gap in the ten-year residence history with no police certificate for it; an adult dependant who is not genuinely dependent; and an interview answer that contradicts the file. Each of these can be addressed if disclosed and evidenced at filing; each is grounds for refusal if concealed.
Figures verified 27 September 2026. The full fee schedule is on the cost page and the timeline on the process page.

Frequently asked questions
Can I include my parents in a Grenada citizenship application?
Yes, if they are aged 55 or over; parents and grandparents of either the main applicant or the spouse qualify. Each adds US$25,000 to the NTF contribution once the family exceeds four, plus US$1,500 application, US$5,000 due diligence, US$1,500 processing and US$1,000 interview fees per person. They must pass the same due diligence and attend the interview.
Does a past visa refusal disqualify me from Grenada citizenship?
Not automatically. Grenada refuses applicants who were denied a visa by a country it has visa-free access to, unless a visa was later granted. A UK or Schengen refusal that was followed by an approval is manageable if disclosed with the paperwork. An undisclosed refusal is the most common reason for rejection we see, because the due diligence agents find it.
Do I need to visit Grenada to apply?
No. The application is filed by a licensed agent, the interview is by video, and documents are couriered. After citizenship, Grenada's 30-day presence rule applies to applications filed from April–June 2026 onwards: 30 days within the first five years, plus five days in the first 12 months for the main applicant.
Are Iranian or Russian nationals eligible for Grenada citizenship by investment?
Both nationalities are restricted. An exception can apply where the applicant has lived outside Iran or Russia for ten or more years, holds another residence or citizenship, and can show the investment was earned elsewhere. It depends on residence history, so ask us before assuming either answer. Sanctioned persons are excluded outright, and the EU has asked all five islands to exclude EU-sanctioned individuals from September 2026.
