Grenada citizenship process: six stages and processing times
Durations reflect our clients' completed files, not the agency's targets. A complete file with a straightforward source of funds is typically approved in about four months; a file with business income across several countries takes closer to nine.
1. Pre-screen and engagement (1–2 weeks)
A call with us covering nationality, ten-year residence history, visa refusals, criminal history, family composition and how the investment is funded. We decline at this stage if we expect the Investment Migration Agency to refuse, because the fees are forfeited on refusal. If yes, we sign an engagement letter with a written fee.
2. Building the file (4–8 weeks)
We order police certificates for every country you have lived in for six months or more over the past ten years (FBI for US residents, RCMP for Canadians), arrange medicals, and write the source-of-funds and source-of-wealth narrative with the documents behind it. Translations and notarisations are done in Toronto. The full list is on the requirements page.
3. Submission and fee payment (1 week)
The licensed local agent files with the Investment Migration Agency. You pay application (US$1,500 per person), due diligence (US$5,000 per person 17+), processing (US$1,500 per person, US$500 under 18) and interview (US$1,000 per person 17+) fees. None of these are refundable.
4. Due diligence (3–5 months)
The IMA commissions international due diligence firms to verify every document, check sanctions and litigation databases, and confirm your history against the ECCIRA regional database. Undisclosed visa refusals will be identified; declare them in the application.
5. Interview (Scheduled within the due diligence window)
Every applicant aged 17 and over is interviewed by video and biometrics are captured. We rehearse it with you: the questions cover your background, your money and why you want Grenadian citizenship, and the answers must match the file.
6. Approval in principle, payment, passport (4–8 weeks)
On approval you pay the US$235,000 NTF contribution, or close the real estate purchase through escrow, within the window stated in the letter. The certificate of naturalisation is issued, then passports, which we deliver to you in Toronto or the US.
Grenada CBI interview, biometrics and division of responsibilities
The interview. Mandatory since ECCIRA came into force in December 2025 for every applicant aged 16 and over across the region; Grenada charges the interview fee from age 17. It is a 20- to 40-minute video call with an IMA-appointed interviewer. Expect questions on your career and how you built your wealth, the specific source of the investment, your residence and travel history, any visa refusals, and your reasons for choosing Grenada. Dependants are asked about their relationship to you and their own history. Biometrics are captured at the interview and again at every passport renewal. It is not a test of English fluency; an interpreter can be used.
What we do. Eligibility screening, the engagement letter and fee, the document checklist and every certification, ordering police certificates, drafting the source-of-funds narrative, liaison with the licensed local agent who files, tracking the file at the IMA, interview preparation, instructing payment on approval, passport delivery, and reminders for the 30-day presence rule and renewals. We are a licensed CICC firm in Toronto; you work directly with Jane Katkova and her team in Toronto.
What you do. Attend the medical, sign affidavits before a notary, provide bank statements and business records when asked, attend the video interview, and fund the government fees at filing and the contribution at approval from a bank account in your own name. We cannot change the underlying source of funds; our role is to document and present it accurately.

Grenada citizenship process for US and Canadian applicants
For US and Canadian citizens
Your file is usually straightforward: an FBI or RCMP check in days, tax returns that explain your wealth, and no nationality issue. Four to six months from filing is realistic. Remember that the Grenadian bank transfer is a reportable foreign transaction for Americans and that nothing in the process changes your tax residence.
For US and Canada residents on another passport
Two items lengthen your timeline: police certificates from your home country and from any third country you studied or worked in, and a source-of-wealth trail that may span two currencies and a family business. We start both on day one. If your nationality is restricted, the pre-screen decides whether we file at all. Indian nationals should plan the surrender of the Indian passport, since India does not allow dual citizenship.

One consultation establishes whether your file is likely to be approved by Grenada and how long it will take. If another programme suits you better, we will advise you accordingly. Book a consultation.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the Grenada citizenship process take in 2026?
Seven months on average from filing to passport, with a range of four to nine, according to IMI's processing-times data for Q4 2025. Add one to two months before filing to gather police certificates and financial evidence. Claims of two or three months date from before mandatory interviews and regional due diligence and are no longer accurate.
Do I have to travel to Grenada during the application?
No. The file is submitted by a licensed agent, the interview is by video, and passports are couriered. Travel comes afterwards: for applications filed from April–June 2026 onwards, Grenada requires 30 days' presence within the first five years of citizenship and five days within the first 12 months for the main applicant.
What happens at the Grenada citizenship interview?
A video call of roughly 20 to 40 minutes for each applicant aged 17 and over, with biometrics captured. Questions cover your career, the source of the investment, residence and travel history, any visa refusals and why you chose Grenada. Answers must match the written file. We prepare every client with a mock interview beforehand.
Can my application be refused after I have paid the fees?
Yes. Due diligence, application, processing and interview fees are paid at filing and are not refunded on refusal. The US$235,000 contribution is only requested after approval in principle, so it is never lost to a refusal. A refusal is also recorded in the ECCIRA regional database, so we only file cases we expect to pass.
