St Kitts and Nevis passport visa-free access by destination

| Destination | Status for St Kitts and Nevis nationals | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Visa required (B-1/B-2) | Not in Proclamation 10998, unlike Antigua and Dominica. Immigrant-visa processing frozen since 21 January 2026 for 75 countries, all five islands included. No E-2 treaty (that is Grenada). |
| Canada | eTA with conditions, otherwise visa | eTA (CA$7, five years) only if you held a Canadian visa in the last ten years or hold a valid US non-immigrant visa, arriving by air. |
| United Kingdom | Visa-free with UK ETA | Retained. Dominica lost UK access in July 2023, Saint Lucia on 5 March 2026. |

St Kitts and Nevis passport benefits and limitations
Advantages
- Widest visa-free access of the five. Around 150–167 destinations; the other four sit around 140–164.
- UK and Schengen both intact. Only St Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Grenada still offer both. For a business traveller on a more restricted passport this is the principal benefit.
- Not restricted by US Proclamation 10998. Not named in Presidential Proclamation 10998, so no restriction on immigrant, B-1/B-2, F, M or J visa categories for its nationals.
- Lifetime and transmissible. Citizenship is for life and passes to children born after the grant. Renewal is administrative, not a new application, and the passport itself arrives in 5.1 months average (range 3–8).
Limitations and risks
- EU 2028 deadline. The Commission has asked all five governments to end CBI by 1 June 2028. Operating a programme is now itself grounds for Schengen suspension; Vanuatu lost access this way. Schengen visa-free access is current and not guaranteed after 2028.
- No US or Canada shortcut. US visitor visas still apply. Canada's eTA is conditional. The passport does not ease entry to North America.
- Biometric enrolment by 31 July 2027. Every holder must enrol, and ECCIRA captures biometrics again at renewal.
- 30-day presence expected. ECCIRA's 30 days in the first five years applies to new applicants; earlier filings were grandfathered.

St Kitts and Nevis passport for US and Canadian applicants
For US and Canadian citizens
Your own passport already offers wider visa-free access. You are acquiring contingency mobility: a second lifetime passport, a citizenship for your children, and a zero-tax base if you ever relocate for 183 or more days a year. Your US or Canadian status does not change; US citizens keep worldwide taxation, FBAR and FATCA, and a local bank account is reported to the IRS under the Model 1 agreement.
For US and Canada residents on another passport
For these applicants the passport delivers its main benefit. Holders of Nigerian, Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese or Pakistani passports gain visa-free entry to the UK, Schengen, Hong Kong and Singapore, with no consular appointments. Keep your US visa or Canadian permit; this passport will not replace them. Nationality restrictions cover Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Russia, Belarus, Sudan and Yemen, with exceptions for long residence elsewhere; ask us.
St Kitts and Nevis passport validity, renewal and biometrics
Passports are issued after the certificate of registration at US$500 per person. Renewal is administrative; you do not reapply for citizenship. Under ECCIRA, biometrics are captured at interview and at every renewal, and St Kitts and Nevis requires all existing passport holders to enrol biometrics by 31 July 2027. Treat that date as fixed and book enrolment early. We confirm the current validity term and renewal fee with you before you travel on an expiring document.

Frequently asked questions
How many countries can I visit visa-free with a St Kitts and Nevis passport?
Around 150 to 167 destinations visa-free or visa on arrival, depending on which index you read. The list includes the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom (with the UK ETA), Hong Kong and Singapore. It does not include the United States, Canada without conditions, or China. That visa-free access makes it the strongest of the five Caribbean investor passports.
Can I enter the US with a St Kitts and Nevis passport?
Only with a US visa. St Kitts and Nevis was not named in Presidential Proclamation 10998, so its nationals face no extra restriction on visa categories, unlike Antigua and Dominica. B-1/B-2 visitor visas are still required, and since 21 January 2026 US immigrant-visa processing is frozen for 75 countries including all five islands. The passport is not a route into the US.
Can I enter Canada with a St Kitts and Nevis passport?
With an eTA (CA$7, valid five years) only if you held a Canadian visa in the last ten years or hold a valid US non-immigrant visa, and only when arriving by air. Otherwise you need a Canadian visitor visa. Our clients already living in Canada keep their permit or PR; the passport is for travel elsewhere.
Will the St Kitts passport lose Schengen access?
Schengen is visa-free today. In July 2026 the European Commission asked St Kitts and Nevis and the other four islands to phase out citizenship by investment by 1 June 2028, and the Visa Suspension Mechanism now treats running a programme as grounds for suspension. The next report is due December 2026. We advise every client that Schengen visa-free access is current and not guaranteed after 2028.
